We will be doing K-On goes to war in the winter. This is more commonly called “Sora no Woto”, or “Song of the Skies”. It’s about a land that’s been ravaged by war, and a girl (Yui) who enlists in the army to defend a fort. There she and 4 other girls (We’ll call them Mio, Mugi, Azusa, and girl who didn’t quite make the cut for the K-On band) make music, even though nobody will hear it.
It was either this or Vampire Bund, but since we haven’t had 1 successful applicant for typesetter, and after the announcement that Kalafina will be doing the OP, it became clear that this is the show.
By the way, this is TV Tokyo at 25:30 Sunday. Odds of it getting CRed are extremely high. Before you ask, we don’t care about that.

Curse having to have shows chosen between. While I wanted to see this one as well, I started reading the Vampire Bund manga as well. X.x Guess I’ll look elsewhere for that particular one in the meantime.

Sam, Japan TV is scheduled a little strange. The first show starts at like 5:00, and the last one starts at 28:30. Basically, it’s Monday at 1:30 AM in Japan.

imho it makes perfect sense for any schedule (TV or trains, etc) – for example a show starts at 23:30 and ends at 25:30 – so the schedule is easy to read and understand, without counter-intuitive jump from 24:00 to 0:00 in the middle.
but, I guess, ppl from AM/PM cultures won’t be able to understand…

K-On goes to war, or K-On with a plot. CR licensing shows is a good way to find out just how horrible it can get (CR’s Sasameki 01 is a prime example) anyway.

Anime production company Aniplex has revealed that the “Sora no Woto Project” will be a TV anime co-developed by Aniplex and the TV Tokyo broadcast network. The production will be the first project from Aniplex and TV Tokyo’s “Anime no Chikara” (The Strength of Anime) development partnership established last month. The Sora no Woto (Sounds of the Skies) anime will be animated by studio A-1 Pictures (Kannagi) with an all-star staff including director Mamoru Kanbe (Elfen Lied, Denpa Teki na Kanojo) and screenwriter Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross F, Denpa Teki na Kanojo). Key animator for Kannagi Toshifumi Akai will deliver animation character designs based on original designs from illustrator Mel Kishida. I don’t think anyone is paying attention, it sounds like allot of people are going to be surprised when they download the first episode. When I first saw the announcement I just took it as a joke, but I had to go back to the link posted on Halloween just in case after I saw everyone (at least seemingly) taking it seriously.

The important part of the description to read is the following:
“The series revolves around 15 year-old Kanata Kumika, an eager new army enlistee assigned to join a unit of four other girls who defend a fortress in a desolate, war-torn land.”
To summarize, it is not K-ON, and the main character is not Yui (as above, she’s Kanata Kumika). The joke is that she _looks_ a little like Yui in the promo trailer.
