“XviD: XviD is a stupid codec that is just as playable on all computers as h.264 of the same resolution, takes more filesize for lower quality, and doesn’t support ordered chapters. Download the h.264 or wait until Sunday.”
I appreciate the fansubs in any form I can get them. So thank you. But…
For me .mkv means sitting in front of a 22″ in the computer room, while .avi means sitting in front of a 42″ on the comfy couch in the living room.
“For me .mkv means sitting in front of a 22″ in the computer room, while .avi means sitting in front of a 42″ on the comfy couch in the living room.”
one word to discribe this is selfishness.
because XBOX 360 suck. y dont u say PS3 cannot play .avi. (ur statement is stupid). yes avi dont have any ill content but consider the the time for the encoding. yes there is delay in hatsukoi because chihiro is encoding the .avi.
“it’s not fansubbing anymore if you’re the only one who could enjoy these animes, you fucking prick!”
this also a stupid statement too. i’m not the only one who watch anime. there are a lot of people watching anime
p/s: i agree with wat robert said
u people are just pushing chihiro around. i’m feeling sory for chihiro.
@juiz, Actually, we(me and anyone with brains) don’t push chihiro to make an .avi
it’s just a suggestion, if they don’t make one, then it’s ok. since it’s their decision.
you’re the ones whose pushing chihiro like saying

Few things:
1) I have an XBOX and not a PS3. So what? I’m not trying to start a console war here. I’ll let the “ur statement is stupid” comment go…
2) As for the accusation of selfish, I guess it depends on how long it takes pros like Chihiro to encode an .avi, and whether it does rob time from other business at hand like Hatsukoi… I honestly don’t know, which leads me to:
3) I DO know how long it takes my dumbass to fool with re-encoding a .mkv. I can recall my first battle with an .mkv back when I was watching Strawberry Panic… I still have “vestigial bits” of some 10 different pieces of encoding software on my computer. I haven’t tried in a couple years and haven’t given MeGUI a shot, but I can tell you I never did figure it out. Between Vobsub, Subtitle workshop, DVD Santa ($30 gone…), um what else… Subrip, FFSHOW or whatever, and God I can’t remember what else… Suffice it to say, I learned to hate on some .mkv here a couple of years ago and haven’t had the patience to fuck with it further since.
Anyway, Thanks Chihiro for the fansubs. Beggars CAN’T be choosers, and I’m certainly thankful for even the .mkvs (I have had CCCP with media player classic for ages and have no trouble watching them here in the ‘puter room, it’s just much nicer streaming .avi to the living rooms flat screen). I was just trying to say that .avi are also used and appreciated.
We’ll get ‘em when we get ‘em. Not trying to start any grief.
I am confused as to how the file sizes are the same. When I look at the file sizes for mkv and avi I always see a different number of MB. Personally I always choose whichever is smaller. When there’s ordered chapters I use mkv. When there isn’t the avi is usually 100MB smaller than mkv.

Second @ juiz: We have all pointed out your xbox sucks. That being said, before you say dumb stuff like “ZOMG my CRAPBOX-NEGATIVE-360 wont play the SUPERIOR MKV AND YOU SUCK” you should do some research into upnp media servers that fulfill that need. you guys are indeed all correct. MKV is good but only for PC while the Xvid could be played in players that could be mounted in a monitor bigger and better.
Suggestion:
I’m Dloading MKV but i also play it in a large screen LCD how din i do it?
Buy a S-video card for the pc if you are using picture tube television, for those using lcd plug your VGA PC to LCD, what’s more buy a HDMI card for PC and plug it so it’ll be in 720p or 1080p like what i’m doing right now..got more questions just e-mail me and i’ll be happy to give you suggestions.
BTW some laptops have s-video ports in them which i alo use in the past and it works great.
Margo,
S-Video will do the anime episode to look like pixel explosion at your TV.
The quality yet cant be handled by TVs.Another kind of system than the normal PC monitors.

If you have your 360 and your computer on a network and have your 360 set up to play files from your computer on media center, that’ll do the trick.

June 14th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
@Rabid Wombat:
The reason why most the time you find that mkv files are larger in size, is because the quality of the file is in fact higher.
If you compare an avi file, and a mkv file of the exact same quality, generally (if not always) the mkv will be smaller in size.
Correct me if I’m wrong

I think the epic war between avi and mkv is long past its time. I mean its up to them on what to release. Just appreciate both.
Heck I was amazed by vitachan.
Okay azunya in Valkyria had my jaws fall down.
MKV > AVI = better quality
AVI > MKV = much flexible
avi are for common folks that wants to watch on tv with dvd that can’t afford much like me.
mkv is for all avid fans to see on their pc like me also
