This is a big post, so I’m scared to see the amount of comments.
First, Mio is my favorite. If not for anything else, for her ED. ^.^
Second, this release uses ordered chapters. This means that we encoded the OP and ED once, and now we will never have to again. In future episodes, put the episode in the same folder that the OP and ED is in and USE CCCP. It’ll play the episode just like normal, and you’ll only have to download 100 MB! 100 MB gave a P-quant 16.3, so it’s not constraining bitrate either. Quality looks just fine.
Second and a half, as usual, we will sub the widescreen version. If there are minor errors, please paste them in the release threads so we can note them and correct them between versions.
Third, we are going to drop Queen’s Blade. Simply, the show is bad, and it’s not worth the time to sub it.
Also, Asura on Tuesday or Wednesday. IT WILL NEVER BE RELEASED BEFORE D-SUN AIRS IT!

I don’t understand why you don’t like ordered chapters…
Even DVD-rip and Bluray-rip fansub groups use ordered chapters to minimize file size and also for convenience… It’s basically the same as downloading the entire file with the OP and ED intact, except you only download the main file and the main file will always play the OP and ED sequence as long as it is saved in the same folder.

Cmon, you cannot judge Queen’s Blade after just one episode….
First episode of Fullmetal Alchemist was nothing special, awesome show in next eps. First minutes of Elfen Lied was just dumb violence, naked chick and lots of blood, one of the best anime series I’ve ever seen. Zettai Shogeki was bad from the beginning, only last episode was not bad….
It’s to early to say that QB is bad.

meh not to bothered about ordered chapters tbh i could care less about the op/ed’s of most shows plus with only 12-13 eps its doubtfull they will use more than one of either anyway.

I ask that you reconsider your decision to drop Queen’s Blade. As many have pointed out, it is what it is. The posturing people have against it is silly – the original game was entirely ecchi, and the accompany illustration and whatnot was dedicated to that. If you’re dropping Queen’s Blade because it has too much over the top fanservice, then that makes no sense as you guys have subbed over the top anime like that before.
Now, if you’re dropping it because it has bad voice acting (even with an all star cast), ridiculous (no) plot, and exploding acid tits, then I can understand.
And anyone who gets up on a pedestal and postures against it and being all elitist about it is in fucking denial – secretly fapping to it while acting all high and mighty about it.

sorry but i hate the idea of spliting the op and ed off of the anime.
i could understand doing that so many years ago, when harddrives were just breaking 10-20gb, and the advrage person didnt even have more than 5gb. and i can also understand it if it was befor dvdburners became more or less a standard. even the internet is so fast that even an estra 100 or so megs is just prety much meaningless.
i mean useing a new codec because its beter, ok.
experimenting with the codec is fine too, so long as there is an alturnitave.
but doing somthing like that… spliting the file… i just never saw a reason for it anymore.

That’s one kickass ED, good taste. I like the animation style for this show, and the motions are animated well in my opinion, they look natural. It also has its funny moments, i really underestimated this show.

Queen’s Blade: I agree with the “so bad it’s funny” comment. However, the show is so basic that subtitles aren’t really needed. Just grab the raws.

If people don’t care about space and bandwidth anymore, how am I running out of space when I have 1 TB of HDD space? Probably because I have shows on my hard drive that take up close to 10 GB for 24 episodes. Maybe when people no longer have to pay for hard drives, ordered chapters will be stupid, but for now, go advertise the other group somewhere else.

If you want K-On in a slightly better quality I prefer PLATiNUM’s 1024×768 V2 release, it uses Coalguys subs. And I don’t think it has any chapters either. This is as good as it gets for now.

Also, I don’t get your criteria for “crappy show”. Don’t tell me that Akikan – which had *nothing* worth watching/hearing/thinking – yet, in your opinion, was worth the time spent subbing it – is in some way better than Queen’s Blade (which at least doesn’t pretend to have a plot), that at least has boobs & nipples? Have you seen these *ahem* .. hurried (none other exist) releases of QB by other groups.. no, other “groups”? Don’t you want to save part of your audience from dying of eye cancer?

It was pretty good, the translation was good and understandable. I was a bit troubled by the angles they used in the anime, it was just like they wanted to show us that the characters have odd legs in some parts o.O
Opening was pretty lame but the song in the end of the episode was a lot better. Gotta check the next episode as this one was pretty enjoyable, but like in many series it didnt really tell what the serie is going to be like.

If I could make a suggestion about your BS-i series (they’re the only idiots who do this crap right?) release strategy, I realize you’re trying to be a speedsub group, trying to out-do other speedsub groups and such, but how about, with these stupid BS-i_3_week_late_WS series, instead of releasing the 4:3 as soon as possible (or at all), you use the 4:3 as a launchpad to get the translation, editing, timing, typesetting, and positioning as complete as possible then you’ll be able to get the WS out as soon as the encoding is done. that would give you 3 weeks to iron out everything before the WS release, keeping you from wasting time, processor power and bandwidth on the 4:3s, without ending up falling behind. consider them real-time quality releases.
sorry, I haven’t started watching the show yet, so I can’t say whether it’s good or not myself yet. I just had to get that out there, I’ve been following Chihiro since last summer (Ikkitousen, World Destruction and Zero no Tsukaima), and since this dual-release silliness started, it’s been giving me a headache.

Sarreq Teryx: That’s what we do. If you watch this release or Asu no Yoichi, you can tell that our 4:3 releases are really high quality. For mistakes, the most I’ve heard of was 2 in a release, least was 0.
But we’re human and will make mistakes. And that’ll be fixed for the BS-i version, and eventually, the Blu-Ray version in August.

Why Akikan is better the Queen’s Blade you ask? Well, that is simple: Akikan does not take itself seriously, pokes fun at itself, and is actually quite funny. Also, the fanservice is well placed, and not repugnant. Queen’s Blade takes itslef seriously, what with the “epic” story line…and has fanservice so bad it should be in a La Blue Girl OVA. And by the way, I am the reason Queen’s Blade was dropped, since I was supposed to translate it, and I’m proud of dropping it. I also worked on Akikan, and I can say it’s 100 times better then Queen’s Blade.

Ordered chapters are not hard… I’ll put step by step
1) Download CCCP codec and install it (do it again even if you have already done it in case it has been updated.)
2) Download the following: Episode 1, ED 1, OP 1 (in DDL they are 3 separate files, the torrent has all of them)
3) Make a folder, call it “K-ON!” or whatever you feel like calling it
4) Move all 3 files into the folder
5) Open the episode 1 file with media player classic, it should have the OP and ED in it and play fine.
if you have done every one of the following and it still doesn’t work… post again
for future releases download the main episode and stick them in the folder you made. If you decide you want to skip the ED and OP than just delete the files or move them to another folder.
and it’s not just about hard drive space, it’s also about download time… Cutting out the OP and ED is around 50megs… let’s say you DL at oh… 300 kb/s that’s around 3.5 minutes off of every download… might not seem like much but when you are waiting for an episode 3.5 minutes can seem like an eternity.

Uhh, I’m using a mac and I can’t seem to get the ordered chapters to work. I put the episode 1 and ED1 and OP1 (all in the torrent) in the same folder. Then I went to the CCCP page and installed MPlayer OSX Extended like it suggested, and it played straight through the episode without the OP and ED.
I only gave my windows partition 30 GB of HD space and my mac partition can use the externals so I have around a TB on that side. Could someone help me out? I don’t feel like switching to windows for just this show, nor do I have the room for it.

All of the 3 files are installed in the same folder, but in that folder there are also other files, would that make any difference ? It’s the usual download folder I just dump all of the stuff.

If you got problem with getting the OP/ED to work.
Here is a simple way to fix it: Go to Start, Programs, Combined Community Codec Pack . filters and then open Haali Media Splitter Settings
In the window that opens, go to options, input and then change the value for Try to open linked files to yes . That solved the problem for me.

Yeah thats what I had to do to get it to work also.
I prefer the Zoom Player that came with CCCP when I downloaded it, instead of Media Player Classic. But after doing that they both work the same and play the op and ed where they are suppose to be. So either work fine, Media Player Classic makes me feel like I am running Windows 98 but its all up to everyone and what they like using lol.

The whole time I was watching, every time I heard Yui, I was thinking “where’ve I heard that voice before, that sounds so familiar”. I finally went and looked it up… same voice actress that plays Suu on Shugo Chara. Definitely not a voice you expect from someone that age.
She’s a perfect fit for Suu though. Her voice does lend itself well to the “airhead” persona within Yui though. I definitely have to agree on liking Mio the best.
@Brett: VLC supposedly handles ordered chapters, but when I tried it on 0.9.9, it kept playing the opening segment before the OP over and over again in a loop. Oops, guess it’s still buggy. (VLC generally has sucked for everything else, only tried it for this to see if the ordered chapters worked since they say it does on their site).

Linux/OSX mplayer … yeah still not working yet for all releases … hopefully soon.
You need to find a patched release to handle them … try looking through the above animesuki thread around page 5 … or get/wait for the Xvid

Smart move with Queen’s Blade. It’s terrible. As for K-On, I’ve gotta disagree. I <3 TSUMUGI!!! But Mio’s my number two. Then again, Tsumigi’s outfit in the ED isn’t the best looking. You’re obviously too stupid to be watching fansubs, do us a favour and never use the comment form again. It’s not like we’re cutting the OP/ED out – we’re just doing this so people don’t have to download it all over again, that would be a waste of bandwidth and space. I think everybody who’s too stupid to put two files in the same directory as the episode should be drowned in a river.

@Mofassa: Because of the recession, we can not afford to subtitle anime in anything other then SD. It is sad, but prices have forced us to take a step back if we are to survive……..
Actually, the WS HD doesn’t air for like 3 weeks, so we’re stuck with SD FS until then.

Maybe it’s just my setup, but I am running Windows 7 build 7057, CCCP and using MPC, and I can not get the subtitles to show up at all
Will try it on may laptop later though since that is WinXP. I did not feel like playing around with it this morning at 3AM.

For W7, codecs aren’t that much optimized for now. So, you are better with a player that does NOT need codec (like, I suggest, The KMPlayer). Also, avoid VLC.

Is anyone also worried about K-ON’s animation? Because It seems that most anime with a band performing on it clearly has bad animation going.
Example: on some guitarrists you can clearly hear the accord changing yet the guitarrists hands never move.
The OP showed great animation in that area, however, in certain parts when Mio is playing her bass, she doesn’t seem to move her hand even though you can see she moved around the scale. I’m worried that things like this might ruin the magic of this anime for me.

People not liking ordered chapters and because of that chosing another fansub, people not liking the animation, people not liking the way hands move in an anime when playing an instrument.
All the abobe points turn out to be moronic in some way. I don’t see the problem with ordered chapters, you only have to double click the file that says episode one and you will see the episode without problems. I’ve downloaded the cccp pack and worked as it should have. But if you want to change the fansub you will follow do it, no one is stopping you.
People not liking the animation; well there are lots of other shows you can enjoy that have more realistic animation. Personally I think the story Its what matter but it’s only my opinion.
And the ones searching to every little mistake the production make while drawing the hand’s movement on the guitar, lets just say this is an ANIME it’s not real life. If you want to complain there are famous movies where big stars actors move theirs hands in pathetic ways when pretending to play an instrument. Lets stop pretending to look out for something perfect.
The story it’s interesting so far. The animation works fine and show what it should and for the details if you are a musician or want to learn to play the song from the opening or ending, man you are going to be disappointed very frequently in life.

I just saw this huge rant coalguys did about your subs for the trailer. Apparently where a character says “We’ll join the club” is not correct, and that was enough to set them off. Who cares, it still makes sense. I’m glad I don’t usually follow their group. Keep up the good work guys.

I have tried Quicktime with Perian (skips OP and ED), Mplayer OSX Extended (Skips OP and ED) and VLC (endless loop of Prologue).

Thank you Lebon14. I’ll look into KMPlayer, if that fails, I guess I’ll just watch it on my laptop or get Ubuntu on here again. MPlayer on Ubuntu worked fine with a bit of tweaking, but with my new ATI, I should be fine and not experiance the small glitches. Thanks again. Hopefully in May, with the RC of W7 will bring up some optimized codecs. I always avoid VLC unless I am on my MAC.
Also, I have no problem with the chapters. It is quite convenient as a matter of fact. I appreciate it.

2/10. People who watch this download fansubs. They can’t read the fucking Japanese credits. Nobody’s going to give a fuck if the voice actor of a character who shows up for 3 seconds in one episode gets left out of the credits, because people who watch fansubs can’t read kanji! Hell, I’m semi-fluent in Japanese and I still can’t read kanji names worth shit. Only a native’s going to be able to read the credits, and even if they can read them, they probably won’t care enough to read them. If people want to find out who worked on it they can fucking go to ANN and look it up. They have all the voice actors and production staff listed there.

Isnt blu-ray getting pretty popular in japan? I wouldnt be very suprised if we would see blu-ray relase of these series. However I doubt there are many fansub groups doing “HD-TV” relases for their works as these would take some serious space from the server (1gb per episode? more?)
if you mean those 1280×720 with hefty compression mkv and mp4 files then theyll probably arrive sooner or later. But they are not real HD-TV relases but good enough for most.
watched today a “720p” mp4 300mb video today with my ps3 and it played and looked quite nice on my 32″ hd-tv. But the colors where pretty awfull from the compression. “jpg:ish” squares where very noticeable. Overall the video looked good but not even near HD
gotta hunt for more of these “hd” mp4:s tough

Thank you for reading the previous posts. Levels of understanding and comprehension vary across individuals when it comes to languages and linguistics. Some of Chihiro’s viewers may nevertheless appreciate being able to watch each episode in full. There is, of course, the concern of respect, as well.

I appreciate the efforts to reduce filesize, but I noticed some very obvious artifacting. I’m not sure if it’s the raw or from the compression, but I hope the HD version will not have such blemishes. I can’t find the exact spots but there were some darkened blocks shifting around in someone’s uniform once in the bottom right and once somewhere else. It wasn’t one of those picky things, either, it was really obvious.

exAlpha is re-encodeing your realese of this episode to like around 85-90 MB 640×480 xvid and it is on nyaatorrents even though you allready have an xvid out and stuff, unless you alleready knew this Kristen

Didn’t watch this yet, but I enjoyed Minami-Ke Okaeri for what it was, but for those having trouble with ordered episodes, just do what ReleasedNinja sugested (like 10-20 replies above me), and go to the Haali Media Splitter settings, and change the setting to “Yes” in “Try to open linked files.” I’m not even using CCCP, just using Vista Codec Package with WMP, and it works well for me.

2. WATCH IT.
3. DOUBLE CLICK THE MAIN EP.
4. WATCH IT.
5. DOUBLE CLICK THE ED FILE.
6. WATCH IT.
7. SEED.
8. DL NEXT EP FROM CHIHIRO WHEN IT COMES OUT.
10. REPEAT.
11. STOP BITCHING.

trying the widescreen ones, I’m having trouble getting the ‘ordered chapters’ to work (perhaps the fact that I didn’t know about it when I downloaded the widescreen of episode 1 didn’t help, I just stuck the op and ed in the folder where I keep a lot of other anime openings).
