Regarding Smile itself, I find that this one in particular to be kind of a mash up of Heartcatch and Yes! Precure 5. The first episode and the protagonist is really, really reminiscent of Tsubomi. For those new to the franchise, I'd suggest starting off with Heartcatch, which is one of the best in my opinion. Woah, amazing stuff guys.
