An idle question if I may… I’ve been collecting several other series and decided to collect this one as well. It is an excellent series. I tried to get the first few episodes out of the archive but I can’t find any seeds for eps 1-8. Do you know if you will be batching this series once it’s complete?
@gravnakle – I think people have asked this in pretty much every other Hayate BD release post. They ARE doing a BD, and they’ve stated that they always do a batch in the end for their releases for DVD/BDs.

Hayate has a progression of time. Approximately 16 months have passed between the start of the first season and the current episode. Hina had a birthday episode, and other characters probably did as well that I just can’t remember. So it only makes sense that Maria had a birthday too. So she has to be at least 18, even though she keeps saying she’s 17 years old. Unless she’s some kind of alien or robot who doesn’t have birthdays.

I’m having trouble with the subs though. I’m getting extraneous “É” (0×85) characters showing up, mostly associated with ellipses.
Dialogue: 0,0:00:16.11,0:00:18.80,Hayate,,0000,0000,0000,,{\be1}but for me to get lost like this…
That “” is actually my text editor translating the invalid UTF8 character with numeric value of 0×85. Mplayer is showing it as an “É”
Make sure your mplayer (and subtitle renderer) is built with unicode support.
