Smoki: Not really. Every DVD/BD volume contains 2 episodes. It’s still ridicoulusly expensive, a BD volume is somewhere between 5000-7000 yen, which would be around 50-70 dollar.
Well, you even got the limited edition discs, so I bet you paid a premium for those… I felt the hit when I got the limited edition Clannad DVDs Vol. 1-7.. and Vol. 8 was sold out everywhere I looked, so I resorted to using a Japanese online auction to get it, and was lucky to have only paid ¥3000 more than retail price… everyone wanted the Tomoyo volume…
It’s not a WP problem. You haven’t configured your database backend to use UTF-8
I’ve used WP 2.9.1 (same as you’re using now) and it haven’t any problem with Unicode in titles or anywhere else.
You guys must be rich to afford that. Its thanks to fansubbers like you guys that we normal people dont have to resort to breaking our piggy banks for anime thx guys!
this is totally unrelated question but whenever i go to “Animetake” their download list is not updated and cant get in to their forums (it says: we are moving severs. it will tak 24-48 hours. sorry) but its been couple of days and i still have this problem….
So i went to the site again by this time using different internet an the site is normal and i can go into their forum.
Is it possibly that i got banned or something??? plz someone help me out !!! tnx
You want to be sure that your database’s character set is UTF-8. You can find it in wp_config.php and look for this line:
/** Database Charset to use in creating database tables. */
define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);
You have to also make sure your database configuration is set to UTF-8 as well. You could probably do this with something like phpMyAdmin.
Next, for pages and feeds, it has to be set to UTF-8 also. You can set that in Settings then Reading, and then “Encoding for pages and feeds.” Enter UTF-8 there.
After all that, it should work. If it still shows up as blocks or funky question marks, may want to check your browser’s encoding settings. Firefox right now is set to Unicode (UTF-8). Of course, you’ll need Japanese language support on your computer.

The whole set was at least 50,000 yen for 25 episodes on 9 discs. Definitely more if you count shipping. It’s kind of ridiculous.
(Er, plus the OVA. That’s another 6500 yen + shipping.)

I assume the piggy bank you broke contained some sort of extradimensional tunnel into a Swiss Bank Vault.
Why are they so damn expensive in Japan?
