Important notes about this episode:
The “Roman” girl is actually speaking German. Quite possibly this is a reference to the Holy Roman Empire, which was located roughly around Germany. Thankfully, we have a few German natives in our group, so we were able to translate this dialogue.
However, we have been presenting this show on a “What Japan would understand” basis. Hence why we have not translated any of the french outside of the insert song in episode 1. But there could be some jokes and references missing otherwise. As such, these files contain two sub tracks.
Track 1: Japanese dialogue only translated, giving the comprehension that a Japanese person would understand.
Track 2: Japanese dialogue translated, German dialogue translated in red. As it is red, it must be true.
720p: Boobs
480p: Next season it’ll be a lack of boobs.
DDLs: Must have boobs.

I wonder how well the German is. Usually the Japanese-German is so freaking bad, that even a native German speaker cannot understand a word of it. I am really curious.
That does make me wonder, how do the translators translate that ? Usually even with the “original German text” I still cannot hear what they are saying. And of course the “original German text” is grammatically 100% incorrect

I’m German and I can say that the spoken German her is really good for a Japanese Production. Because of the accent I had to concentrate to understand it but after I accustomed to it, it was was no problem.

It always surprises me when an anime goes to the effort to make foreign speech realistic… One of the best examples is the first episode of Eden of the East, which takes place in Washington DC. Not only did the officers speak in English, but it was unaccented American English! That attention to detail really gets me hooked into things. I think the opening theme was a song by Oasis too.

I watched the eps now, and I must say, I’m amazed by the level of German speaking skills. The Roman girl speaks it pretty well, except some parts, while the Helvetian girl speaks it kinda mediocre.
HOWEVER, it is 10 to 100 times better then what I’m used to in anime !! I can actually understand them, which is normally impossible withe the huge accents and 100% incorrect grammar. Big plus for this anime !!

Actually, I agree, the breasts were speaking pretty good German.
Considering most of the time in anime, even when they speak english, it’s so bad that I can’t understand it. But in this case, I was able to understand some of it, even though it’s a language that I’ve forgotten most of (and never really knew that well in the first place.)
