Oh, another note. Are we to assume that they are stationed somewhere in France during WW1 or something? I thought it funny that there was both French and Japanese on their fortune cookies. They also like Amazing Grace apparently lol.

It actually looks more like they’re in a conquered post-war Japan somewhere in the distant future. The school is obviously Japanese and they have a freaking mecha-tank.

Is it a surprise to anyone that the Japanese depiction of WW1 would have mecha-tanks? They have better have their gundams out by the time the ‘Big Push’ is ordered.

It’s not so much the tank that makes me think they’re not in the distant future instead of WWI so much as the fact that they’ve lost the ability to read written Japanese.
That’s not something they would put in lightly.

I agree with Cyber on the timing. Post-apoc future seems right. Though the dragon is definitely… a loop. It might be completely alternative reality. But the fact that written Japanese existed, and they can’t understand it.. speaks a lot. Just what it says, isn’t known yet.
