So, remember how I said K-On would probably be late this week? I lied. Big shout out to Southrop for covering the translation this week! ^.^
Also, I hate how everything was working out perfectly, and then they made a new OP. I included the new ordered chapter file in the h.264 torrent. As per usual, keep it in the same folder as the episode and the ED, set haali media splitter as “Attempt to open linked files”, and play with CCCP.

[...] there, about me translating K-ON. Well, my work has finally been released. Kristen finally put up a release post. So, remember how I said K-On would probably be late this week? I lied. Big shout out to Southrop [...]

May 30th, 2009 at 3:03 am
Ah good I can trash my other sub of this episode now, thnx!
May 30th, 2009 at 3:36 am
Thanks for the hard work
May 30th, 2009 at 3:39 am
Excellent! Looking forward greatly to watching!
BTW, I prefer using CCCP for all my anime viewing, but here’s the scary thing…I currently use Windows 7 RC1. Everything from any subbing group (not just Chihiro) plays just fine with CCCP on Win7, except subs almost never show up, regardless of any settings (if anyone knows how, PLEASE tell me!) . What is REALLY scary, though, is…*gulp*…The version of Windows Media Player that comes with Win7 not only has native support for MKV files, but it has NO PROBLEMS playing ordered chapters now! For now, I have no choice but to use it over CCCP and MPC. I hope I can eventually start using them again. In any case, I thought I should notify everyone in case they thought of upgrading to Win7 and so they’d know what to expect. I apologize if this has already been mentioned by someone before.

Honestly… there’s only one part that made me fall in love with the new character.. I’ll give you a hint… There was rainbows in the background. That’s when I knew that this character has potential.
Aside… Thanks for the release xD

Josh, considering you’re using a RC OS, you could try being daring—and using the latest beta CCCP that uses MPC-HC (mplayerc continued development, basically); and get MPC-HC to render the subtitles itself (Playback -> [x] Auto-load subtitles) as it’s now much better at rendering ASS subs than vsfilter.
That’s what I’m using, and it works great (mostly).
Use the EVR custom renderer (well, you have to anyway). You can even get subtitle animation at the same time as subtitle buffering now thanks to a rather handy patch (so, working karaoke _and_ smooth subs, yay!), and the subs get rendered at native res (if you have Subtitles -> Maximum texture resolution set to Desktop), and not scaled with the video, so they’re nice and sharp. Obviously, it’s a beta, so I can only really say it works for me and it could die horribly for you, be aware of that.
If you’re particularly daring, you can even try the DXVA internal H.264 decoder that gets your graphics card to do it, drastically lowering CPU usage for high-definition stuff, although obviously that doesn’t normally affect K-ON as the res is too low to worry, and there may be lots of bugs in that for some stuff.
Finally, if you <3 full screen, you could consider trying the D3D Fullscreen support, which can have a very positive affect on framerate and tearing if you have an issue with panning scenes (although, unfortunately, D3D mode has some quirks of its own to say the least).
WMP12 doesn’t have native MKV support, it works because you have CCCP installed and thus have the Haali splitter.
It does have native MP4 and H.264 support, but doesn’t seem to know any sub formats.
Also, love the new background, Kristen

May 30th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Hmm…
I should have commented about this way earlier when Chihiro was making the subs for the OP in ws,
There is an typo in the OP karoke,
“Kinou yori tooku ototoi tori okutaabu takaku” should be
“Kinou yori tooku ototoi yori okutaabu takaku” this is same in the new OP for SD
But meh, Thanks for the subs

Josh, I remember when I upgraded to WIndows 7 RC, I had the same problem with soft subs not showing up in MPC. Did some googling, and now it’s working just fine. I think you have to go into options, then to external filters, and add DirectVobSub(auto-loading version). And yes, make sure you are using the latest CCCP version.

Hi, thank you very much for subbing this series! But I want to ask something. For some unknown reasons, the subtitle in this series won’t show in my system. I really don’t know why because other series (also H264 softsub MKV) don’t have this problem. This problem only occurs in [Chihiro] K-ON. I also watch another series from Chihiro (Maria-sama, Hatsukoi etc…) They all work just fine. This really make me ??? The subtitle has already been set to show too. I’ve already re-install CCCP and it doesn’t work. Can someone suggest me how to trace my problem?
May 30th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
Just finished downloading and watching it. Excellent job on the episode!
@Myoukochou: Thank you so much for those suggestions! I’ll definitely try them out. I REALLY don’t like using WMP. And you’re right about it not having native MKV support. I had assumed it did because it informed me when I installed Win7 that the RC1 version of WMP would not accept third-party codecs and would only use built-in/included codecs until the official release of Win7. Thanks for clearing that up! And I’m VERY daring when it comes to computers (I installed Win7 without backing up first
). My degree is in comp sci, so I’ll try your suggestions. Otherwise, Win7 has been awesome so far when it comes to video. All the Chihiro stuff has looked great. (and yup, I know what you mean about D3D; I try not to depend on it too much)
@Murialita: Thank you, too, for your advice! I’ll be sure and try it, too.

I’m going to watch CoalGuys release for this, the avi is taking to long, and the wait is killing me.
Why would you watch a mkv file from another group as an alternative to waiting for the avi instead of watching the mkv from the same group instead of waiting for the avi?
May 30th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
are there files for the original OP and the ED somewhere? I was wondering why the last 2 episodes didn’t have any theme songs.. how do I fix this?

“Why would you watch a mkv file from another group as an alternative to waiting for the avi instead of watching the mkv from the same group instead of waiting for the avi?”
I tired downloading it but the MKV fails to play on my players.
I’m still a fan to Chihiro, but this waiting is killing me.

If MKV fails to play, then why would you download MKV from CoalGuys?

Well i dont see whats the problem with episode 8, it uses both episode 1’s OP and ED as long its in the same folder, but im assuming you did that with the 1-7 eps..
Ep 9, it uses the new OP and EP 1’s ED, just copy the ED into the same folder as ep 9,
Hope this helps..
