Back in the day, fansubs took a month to do one episode, and leechers LIKED it. You leechers nowadays are spoiled assholes. If you don’t like the speed we’re releasing at, learn Japanese and do it yourself.

I actually think they’re quite fast, considering Chihiro’s subs are all excellent quality. There are plenty of speed sub groups that don’t care what crap they release, so long as it’s first. Chihiro do a fantastic job, and if you don’t like their subs, you could always just wait 4-6 years for it to be dubbed in English and released commercially.

I even updated the players, codex (ffd, virtualsub, haali, you name it) and resetted them to default setitngs.

@Markus – what are you using to play these episodes? I watch its on media player classic, and the subs are fine for me.
@John – That’s because h.264 is better of course.

@John: beacuse of the format (mkv VS avi), the h264 does not need to wait for the translation to be encoded. The moment we get the .ts, we can encode the h264, even if the TL was not even started. The xvid need to wait for the TL, TLC, ED, TM and QC before it’s done.
Timelines (with example time)
h264: get .ts (2 PM) –>encode .mkv (6 PM) –> TL,TLC,ED,TM, QC (8 PM) –> release (8:10 PM)
xvid: get .ts (2 PM) –> TL,TLC,ED,TM, QC (8 PM) –> encode .avi (0 AM) –> release (0:10 AM)
Combine that with the fact that the xvid encoder is not always available, and that he really hates doing it, and you get the point

Thank you for explaining understandably how the “XviD lag” comes about. A shame that the encoder dislikes it but still, many thanks to him for eventually doing it anyway.

What you could try doing is simply uninstalling all codecs and what have you, and then just downloading and installing one codec pack. That could make a difference, assuming you haven’t tried already.

Ok so I’m having a little problem with the files you release, the audio and video aren’t sync.
When I watch Soul Eater or any Dattebayo subbed files I never have this problem, redownloaded the file 2x still the same.
Tried different players and switching codecs but still it does not run sync.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, I still don’t get any subtitles at all. Not in Zoomplayer, VLC, MPC, or Mplayer. Not with MPlayer codecs, not with K-Lite, not with CCCP.
Since every other fansub team’s stuff plays fine for me, I’m gonna go ahead and blame this on you guys.

if u use mpc in cccp, mkv should play perfectly fine, but my Akikan! mkv file was also out of sync, while all other mkv eps. i have plays fine.
so it has nothing to do with the computer, don`t know what to blame tough.

Sure, their effort is appreciated, but if they can’t encode it so everyone can watch it like EVERY OTHER FANSUB GROUP does, then, they’re gonna have to expect complaints.
It’s not like I’m just trying it in VLC and going “Waaah it doesnt work fix it for me”. I have tried it with MPC Classic and Home Cinema, With CCCP and K-Lite. I have tried it in VLC with CCCP and K-Lite. I have tried it in Zoomplayer, with their codec installer. I have tried it in MPlayer with the MPlayer recommended codecs. NONE of them show a subtitle file, yet it’s right there in the container. There is no other fansub group who I’ve had this problem with, just Chihiro.
And “I think they did quite a good job for Akikan seeing that no other fansubbing groups are doing it.” isn’t really a working argument. If you go to a pizza place and no one makes your pizza, but I make one for you and lock it in a steel box, are you going to thank me?

I would actually thank people if they did that because even a steel box isn’t impenetrable. Give it enough time, I could crack it. If it’s between taking time to crack it and not being available anywhere else and I want pizza, I’ll thank you for doing that.
