More importantly, why are you encoding audio at all. I’ve never understood why people feel the need to transcode the ts’s AAC audio into Vorbis (or worse, to a lower-bitrate AAC).
PLEASE DON’T TELL ME AUDIO ENCODING = AC3.

@Maniac, LMAO. AC3 is horrible lossy compression, especially at 160kbps even LAME can and probably does sound better, let alone a better, newer format like HE-AAC. This study claims that HE-AAC at 160kbps was better than AC3 at 384kbps: http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=20264329. You can also take a brief look at Hydrogenaudio, anyone will tell you AAC will be far better than AC3 at the same bitrate. I’d trust them over your baseless claim.

kaoru, except that you shouldn’t use HE-AAC over bitrates of 96kbps. You should use LC-AAC.

I don’t get some people. This is called ”fansubbing” which means people are subbing because they want to. They aren’t getting paid or anything like that. So nagging about bad quality & sound seems pretty ridiculous to me.
If you don’t like it, don’t download it then. Imagine if nobody was subbing the anime you wanted to watch. How desperate would you be for this so called ”bad quality” release?
In my opinion we should be a bit more thankful to those who are willing to waste 3-4 hours a week without expecting anything in return. All that just so we can watch our anime’s.

Those 9 hours tells us something about Chihiro’s efficiency. I’ve seen groups who were able to sub a perfectly fine episode in 3-4 hours. But I guess some people don’t mind slacking off a bit, right?
