So, last thursday, pig2cat and I were browsing perfect dark to see what marimite options we have. After all, AT-X sucks as a station and only broadcasts in 720×480, limiting us to 704×400 releases, and even then in shoddy video quality. We stumbled upon 3 .ts’s listed in perfect dark. One was an AT-X, the second was a TV-S, and the third was KBS.
AT-X sucks, as explained before. KBS was really blurry, and the best we could get out of it was 720×480 anamorphic for a release. However, the TV-S stream was very good. It had a lot more detail, even though it still had rainbowing and stuff, but unfortunately also vry crappy motions at some points, which we couldnt really get out.
So, we encoded it with heavy filters to 1024×576, and we’re happy with the result. However, naming it became really hard. This isn’t a v2, since we’re not really changing anything inside it due to a mistake. It’s not a HD version, since it is 576p, not 720p. It IS a HQ version, but that would not differenciate it from the 1st version, as that was also high quality subtitles. So, we’ll call it the TVS version, after the station that we are encoding from.

You should never trust AniDB. It’s just full of trolls. CoalGuys just give us 1′s to any show we do. Also, voting is all personal opinion. Never trust other comments unless they are reasonable quotes instead of just trolling remarks that just do nothing but bring forum wars.

Don’t worry, I always consider the part that when it comes to accuracy of info, AniDB is like Wikipedia’s cousin. If you know what I’m saying. :p
But sometimes, it’s just too time-consuming to download every group and watch them myself to do a proper evaluation, especially when a lot of decent groups are on the project. I like it when fansubs themselves come over at AniDB to explain things. I always wait for that and I hope Chihiro will do so more often, so you guys won’t be branded as second-rate fansubs anymore. I don’t know, but when you guys take a project, everybody is already set to some sort of “default” that your work (specifically your TL) sucks, but when I download your stuff, the TL turns out to be quite OK and decent (I have a bit of knowledge about Japanese). The thing I hate the most is these same people bashing you also get your releases anyway. Talk about ingrates! If I base it from your past projects that I happened to watch, I think you guys deserve a 7+ rating instead of that ugly 5.83.
I’m always wondering what could be the “root” of this bad reputation of Chihiro (TL-wise)? I remember when ZnT3 had to be dropped because SS-Eclipse came along. All the idiots thought they were the best when in fact, their TL failed big time! I posted something about this over at ASF quite some time back.
Oh and you know what’s even more funny? Some people actually think Chihiro and CoalGuys is just one and the same! They say Chihiro is hiding behind another name for you know, some low reasons stupid people come up with about you guys.
My post has gone long, but hey, I just want Chihiro to know that some people are also very thankful for your work. You guys deserve to be respected in the fabsubbing community.

I’m glad to see Chihiro fansubbing Maria-sama. It’s a great series. I decided to try it awhile back, just for the heck of it, and I’m glad I did. Great stories and characters. If you’re not watching because you think it’s too “girlie”, give it a try anyway.

You shouldn’t be one to complain considering that Kristen gives all Chihiro releases 10/10 and 1/10 to all other subbers subbing the same series.

Could I ask for DDLs, please?
I have problems downloading torrents, I don’t know why, but all your maria-sama 4th torrents seems not to be able to download.
Would you please re-upload all of them in DDL version too, please, please…? Because I don’t want to download Doremi/Gokigenyou’s, I honestly think I like yours better! Please at least, give me your answer, yes or no? *puppy eyes*
