Well, this took quite a bit of time to do. I thought widescreens would be fun, so we’ll be doing them. Here are some specifications on these releases:
1. All episodes will go through an addition edit pass, TLC pass, and QC pass before going into widescreen format
2. All episodes will have karaoke for the opening and the ending. Insert songs will not be translated, unless the song is the only thing going on (In other words, if Kotoha sings a 5 minute solo, we’ll TL it. If someone is singing in the background, we will not.)
3. All episodes will be encoded from a .m2ts which has been appearing on Perfect Dark these past four weeks. If the .m2ts stops disappearing, we will try to get a .ts. If we cannot, we will drop widescreens.
4. BS-i is not a good station, so this looks awful at 1280X720. All releases will be 704X400.
These are high quality releases and should replace our 4:3 releases when they come out, unless you’re THAT big of a fan of black and white.
h.264: Widescreen h.264
XviD: Widescreen XviD
Edit by Demonchild: DDL service will be provided. I keep calling this show Yozakura Quarter. Just so you know.
H.263 (ha) will be up as soon as I get it downed. Also, if a download becomes inactive, it will be deleted if its release post goes off the front page.

I wasn’t planning on watching this series yet, but since your doing the WS releases I’ll be sure to check it out.

well, you’re right about bs-i, but 480p should look better than 400p, or you should encode it to 576p like Eclipse’s ws Clannad releases, which are from bs-i too, i think it’s a better choice than 400p, it isn’t THAT bad.

If this series was meant to be in Black and White it would have been produced in it and if it were I don’t think I would be alone in saying I wouldn’t watch it. I’m glad to see Chihiro is going to do the wide screen version..

If anyone really wants to watch it in black and white, it’s easy enough to just set the color saturation to zero in FFDShow’s video decoder settings, under Picture properties.

I love widescreen, but I am not so picky as to stop watching a 4:3 version. Though I am happy to finally see it in widescreen. Thank you for your hard work

So is the widescreen version better, then? Do you get more picture with it (i.e. extra bits stuck on the sides of the previous releases), or less (i.e. the previousr releases minus bits from the top and bottom)?
I’ll take whichever version has the most picture (and preferably, the highest dimensions).
November 17th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
The widescreen has more. The 4:3 is a crop of the 16:9 done by TBS.
The dimensions are about the same, since this has 84 more pixels in width, yet 80 less in height.

WS is helping of Awesome with extra Awesome Sauce!
Sorry they’re such a total headache for you to produce.

WS = Love. WS = Future. WS = Awesome.
