It looks like DmonHiro's comment about different frame rates for different portions is correct; though I don't know if that's an encoding choice or if it's broadcast that way. I was watching Aero's Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka ep 7 and happened to have the statistics window open. The OP, main body and the preview were all consistent at 24 frame per second (I'm rounding because video is normally done at slightly under whole numbers like 23.976). The ED however was done at a constant 60 fps. I compared this to their episode their six which was done completely at 24 fps and the credits scroll was jerky and had color artifacts which were not present in the 60 fps version. I checked Eclipse's version of episode 6 for comparison and it's all at 24 fps except the ED which they encoded at 30 fps.

Series like Chihiro's World Destruction or ToLoveRu (which use a series of stills for the closing credits) look great at 24 fps all the way through. Scrolling credits however require more bandwidth or a higher frame rate. Bottom line is that whether it's an encoding choice or the way the source material comes, the change in frame rate is to maintain the picture quality. I don't have a problem playing Chihiro's encodes and I really appreciate their hard work.

Seems like Chihiro has a lot of work to do with all of these episodes when it comes time for the batch.

If not, then I'll probably still wait around to see if another group releases a HQ release of this series.

And if that's not the case still...

Well, then I don't care. I still have the scanlated manga I can read over and over again.

Quick addendum: Both measurements were taken on the H.264 versions. The highest frame rates more than doubled CPU utilization on a dual-core CPU. I hope the info helps.

Thanks and I like your choice of eyecatch. :) They really are very silly 5th graders!

I can confirm what TC-man sees. Using Windows Media Player (which shows a moving average so it may miss some peaks) the actual frame rate for this episode is bouncing around a bit but the episode starts at about 24 fps, dips to 23.8 or so and the average slowly keeps ticking up throughout the episode until it's up to about 30 fps near the end then drops back a bit to 26 fps or so. The ED then quickly ramps up, has a peak of 58.3, and finishes at about 56.4 fps. It then climbs further to 56.7 fps during the preview.

Comparing that to RtV Capu2 ep 7, that maintains a nice average 23.9 to 24.0 fps throughout the entire episode but then climbs to 41 fps during the ED. It then drops slowly through the preview to end at 39.1 fps.

I saw no audio/video sync problems with either episode. The stated frame rate in the file for KnNnG was just under 30 fps and just under 24 fps for Capu2.

The reason for the different fps in different areas is most likely beacuse those scenes actually ARE made for those frame rates. It's not uncommon, and very annoying that OP/ED are of different fps then the rest of the episode. Downing them to standard 23.976 fps makes them look horible though, so I'd mutch rather have it with correct fps. If you can't play it properly, it's beacuse you need a stringer PC. Download the xvid if you can't play the h264.

Thanks for this episode of Kyou no Ni no Go TV! Very funny episode!

Maybe I know what made the end of the video (the H264 720P release) lags/goes out of sync . Just use Zoomplayer and look at "Information & Statistics" window which appears by clicking right mouse button at "dialogs" and then go to "Playing information". (Or use an other mediaplayer with similar feature)

Now you see that the ED song and preview got a different and much higher framerate than the one during the episode/story of the show; the actual framerate (Actual FPS) of the ED and preview increase to 58 frames per second. Not every pc system can handle a framerate of 58 frames per second, especially at a resolution of 1280x720.

I have also checked the Rosario to Vampire Capu 2 episode 7. The actual framerate in the ED is also too high for many pc systems, around 58-59 frames per second, while the preview got the usual 23.976.

I don't know what the actual cause is for these high framerates during the ED song and preview. But making the ED and preview run at the usual 23,976 frames per second (re-encoding is necessary) should fix the lagging and out of sync problems.
