Chihiro Feedback!

Yay, I’m finally back! Looks like the site is here, so that’s always a good sign.

I guess at this point, we should probably take you our of the dark on a few things, and also look for some feedback from you. Over the past season, we’ve been doing some experiments with things. We tried quality, but that was a failure. We tried TLC, and that has actually worked very well. We tried muxing on servers, and that also worked really well. We’ve also tried working with multiple translators, and I have to say, I think we are all much less stressed with that.

So, I guess I should announce our plans. Right now, we’re working on the projects that we’ve released, and will continue to so long as we have the staff to do so, until the end of the season. That is World Destruction, Sekirei, To Love Ru, Penguin Musume, and Ikkitousen.

For the fall, our plans right now are EF, and Vampire Knight. We may be looking with a joint with ASF on something else too.

But, anyways, now that we’ve answered a few of your questions, I’d like for you to answer a few of ours. Namely, what are your thoughts on Chihiro? Are we a benefit to you, or a detriment?
Some possible things we’re looking at and would like your opinion on are:
1. OP/ED. Presently, we don’t add kara to them, and I doubt we ever will. However, would you be interested in a 90s style sub, where we sub it just like normal lines? Or would you rather have a clean OP/ED?
2. QC. We are NEVER adding QC to our speedsubs. However, there is a step called “Fining” which is checking over the episode before releasing to ensure that there are no major mess ups. Delays us 30 minutes to an hour, usually, but we’ll stop having to do things like the Sekirei v2s. Would you like to add in Fining, or no?
3. Anything else?

This is your chance to talk back to us about series you like, what you think we should sub, how we should sub, etc. Don’t miss your chance. XD

I like Chihiro subs, i like how fast you can bring episodes out.

I honestly think you should add the Fining process or something similar because there is nothing more annoying than seeing subs overlapping each other so you cant read them, this happens alot unfortunately :(

As for OP/ED, i dont know what they are as i am not good with shorthand, sorry :(

I highly recommend the Fining process tho, you bring out the subs fast and this is what we want! :D its just the overlapping of subs which bothers me hehe

  2. Derrick Says:

I like Chihiro subs a lot. I love the Ikkitousen and I am so glad you guys sub this. I’m sad it’s almost over though. Keep up the good work

  3. Kaori Says:

I hope you release Ikktousen ep 09 soon..It’s very hard to wait.^^by the way you are great subber…^^

    Kaori from germany….

  4. RoMMeL Says:

Hi thx for all your efforts, i like World Destruction, but the probelm is the tracker Anirena is banned in my country (UAE) so if possiple can u add a Direct download link or at least chng the tracker :)

  5. Himura Says:

First of all sorry for my poor English, I am from Russia :)

I want to say you in Chihiro group doing a great work. Your subs is almost perfect. I think no need in karaoke at all, a few people will singing with japanese actress when watching opening or ending.

Also, the subs must be plain in my taste. No need in additiional styles and different colors in each line.

One thing I want to ask you. Please, try to provide the .mkv of SD version of each title, it will be very useful for us bloggers to doing screenshots from anime with subtitles turning off :) (it is impossible with xvid versions)

    Thank you!

  6. mX Says:

I dont mind to w8 a day longer for better quality,

    OP/ED definetly has to come

well if you are going to add fining, you also have to keep doing V2

  7. Sword Says:

I see you are still adamant about not adding a QC step to your releases, so I recommend that you add in the “fining” step you mentioned. It can be fairly irritating to have to download a version 2 when one has limited bandwidth. In any case, your effort is appreciated. Thanks.

  8. someguy Says:

I like your releases i think you guys are good and basically it is what it is a speed sub and i rather have that than wait for weeks for a release. Also there is gonna be alot of new good show in the fall i hope you guys sub some of them. One last thing if there is a show now that is taking long for releases and is good is wagaya oinari sama i hope u guys can pick it up if u can if not u guys are doing a good job on all your shows.

  9. December Says:

I’ve discovered your team just recently, and am very please with your subbing!

    1. I couldn’t care less about karaoke or text during the opening, since I’m usually not attentive at that part, or I just skip it.

    2. As for “Fining”, I’m not a picky person, but I’m not impatient either. I wouldn’t mind an extra hour before publication for better quality (even if I haven’t seen any big mistakes in your subbing).

    3. Thank you very much at Chihiro for the time your spend on subbing animé! Your work is truly appreciated!

    Hope my comment helps ;-)

  10. Starkiller Says:

I’m glad you guys are around because it brings consistency to a lot of anime shows that no one is really subbing (WD, Sekirei, Ikki). I would definitely add the fining process just because nothing sucks more than the v1 of a couple Ikki’s and Sekirei’s that were pretty bad timing/styling wise. Is there anyway you can gank someone’s OP/ED and just ask for that group’s permission if you cred them? Alternatively maybe work on it on downtime? Sometime’s there are some really good OP/EDs and it sucks not to have the TL/karaoke. Now if we can only get someone to sub Bounen no Xamdou.

  11. DonBob Says:

You are one of the three sub groups that I’m coming back to everyday to see if you’ve released something.

    1. I don’t need karaoke… sometimes I’m even annoyed (at other groups of course ;)) that they add too much to the OP/ED since it steals some of the feeling… if you want the text google it or wait for another group

    2. As I’ve been working in the Quality Assurance at my working place for some time I definitly say yes to fining. I also do understand that you’re not going to do perfect quality, since speed is one of your features.

    3. Keep it up ^^

  12. Yo Says:

hmm, The opening and ending of TLR would look nice with kara but is not a necessity.
The fining could be done, to make the “finishing product” less mediocre, and a little more pro ^.^
However, my computer sucks a bit, so if TLR (mkv version) was to be upgraded a bit, I would have some big playback issues (sound falls behind, or the subs wont come) so….. whatever ^.^

Either way, I am sure you guys would do a great job, even without changes.

But I can’t help but to wonder, will you guys be subing for quality when EF comes out or is it going to be speed? I’ve been wondering since, (according to me) EF has a really high quality, and I would prefer quality when it comes to EF, but I guess it’s just me ^.^

Anyways, Thanks for the hard (and mediocre :) ) work, it is really appreciated!

  13. Tarr Says:

I also would like to suggest though that you add the minimal Finning process. One more hour doesn’t outweight the disappointment if there really is a bad mistake, and its in the nature of things that it will happen sooner or later. Karaoke, while it would be nice to have, ain’t worth delays for me, although I do look for a sub with karaoke if I decide to archive a series.

Apart from that, keep up the good work, you make this season much more enjoyable!

  14. tirentu Says:

First off, great job on everything - I’m honestly impressed with the speed and quality of what you do, even through occasional mistakes. I have to say that I support the fining thing as well - half an hour to an hour to watch over the ep is a small price to pay to make sure there are no glaring mistakes and no need to spend time making a V2.

  15. Z.E.R.O. Says:

    1) Op/Ed Text wouldn’t be a bad idea specially on the series that you started from the beginning.

    2) The fining process we be so awesome.. it wouldn’t hurt to spend a couple of hours for fining instead of doing V2 for minimal errors which i think more time consuming.. i really wouldnt mind waiting extra hour before the release.. (specially on Sekirei) ^_^

    3) Keep up the good work.. Thanks for all you’re Hardwork on Chihiro Group.. We really appreciate it.. THANK YOU ^_^

  16. Wankel Says:

I definitely think you should add “Fining”, its almost a MUST. There’s nothing worse than having misplaced text or overlapping text.

  17. UchihaX24 Says:

Chihiro, i rly like the fast subs that you provide :P!
changes are Not rly needed but mayb other would love it :D!

and Btw You guys have a IRC channel?
mayb im too stupid for not noticing xD

  18. Hanzo Says:

you guys are probably one of the best groups out there at the moment imo and so far in enjoying the subs on your stuff more than every other groups this season. as for the op/ed stuff tbh im not really that fussed about those things since half the time the lyrics make less than 0 sense when translated into english anyway lol but yeh as has been said by others definitely add the fining process if only for your own sanity :)

also someone mentioned you guys subbing wagaya no oiynari sama and i gotta say if u decided to do this you’d have a loyal subber for life! (and if u added monochrome factor into the mix aswell that’d also be awesome)

keep up the awesome subbing guys.

  19. Koby Says:

    Okay well,

First off, I really like Chihiro, you do a lot of nice series that I like, and you do them quick and with good quality except for the occasional mishaps.

As for the karaoke, we don’t really need it, as I’m fine without it. However adding the simple subtitles for it might be nice sometimes as well, lol. Really whatever you choose is fine.

What I currently watch from here is: Sekirei, Ikkitousen, and To Love-Ru. I will be watching Vampire Knight Guilty when you start subbing it this October as well, and possibly EF.

Some projects I’d like to see done, and I hope you will do them, is some that haven’t been done by other groups. Shinsen subbed Zombie Loan 1 through 11, but no one ever subbed episode 12 and 13 (which are also considered OVA).. and I know a lot of people who are waiting for it to be subbed. So if you could do it, that would be great!

Good Job Chihiro and welcome back Kristen!

    -Koby.

  20. Maddogg Says:

    signs, txt from cellphones, etc
noticed u dont translate that sometimes. that my only qualm

  21. NoiR Says:

I think you are great subbers.
I must say you, datte bayo and M3.3.w. are the greatest subsites I ever saw.
I think you make great subs. and you make Xvid aswell. some groups only make mkv with 1280xXXX etc. you are thinking at the people with lowpc aswell.
you are great. nothing more to say.

  22. nigma Says:

I have to be honest with you guys, you guys are an awesome fan sub group and i would not like you guys to change in anyway that would give bad name to you guys and i know for fact that would not happen. Also, let’s face it, most of the releases i look from you guys are always here when i check here after 1 week later and i appreciate the hard work you guys are doing and hope you continue to do so

Karaoke: i don’t really think we need karaoke, i think most of the time it wastes time, and usually i just skip it, but some times i do like listening to the ending for to love-ru (well the new ending) and i wouldn’t minds subs on that =P

Fining: i think you guys should do that, it’s some times annyoing when the subs overlap each other and disappear and you never get know what that person was saying until u rewind, and that gets annyoing, but it’s something i can get over ahaha

JUST KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

  23. mazda Says:

    >that would give bad name to you guys

you do realize, Chihiro is one of the most “worst” & “hated” fansub groups?

  24. perimiter Says:

1.if its not a problem then do clean op/ed if it is a problem then a 90s opening wont be so bad
2.QC ?? whats that? what dose it stands for?
3.fining would be great thank you
4.what is EF ? you menchened it earlier in the post.

over all i am pleased with your performance as long as you dont over sub(i am talking about few good subing teams sub the same anime like it was with ZNT and CG) you are the best ^^.
as for series you should try the flowing : Tetsuwan Birdy Decode,Bounen no Xamdou, kamen no maid guy these releases are not subed by any good team.
also it would be great if from now on when you release SD and HD you will post them in the same time even if one of them versions is ready before the other, thanks

  25. Bruno Says:

    I definitely agree with Fining.

  26. Moh Ex Says:

I’m so Very happy CHIHIRO for subs allways

  27. EpyonAC Says:

Fining sounds like a good idea. The wait doesn’t really matter since most people have the patience to wait for better quality and v2’s are a bit of a pain. Your subs are excellent and you should keep up the good work.

As for OP/ED the translation/karaoke is always a good thing. If you are worried about the effect of the OP/ED then you could always leave it’s first run clean and translate for the rest of the episodes or even alternate.

  28. Fuzzbucket Says:

Welcome back. Hope you had a nice vaca.

    1. I don’t care about karaoke and usually skip over the intro and ending themes anyway.

    2. If you’re going to add any more quality control (QC) then fining is the way to go. I think it’s a good idea even if it adds an hour to release times.

    3. Don’t really have anything else to add except to say “keep up the good work.”

  29. Agoobakoo Says:

First off let me say you are all doing a wonderfull job.
    1) op/end I could really care less about. I will usually skip over those anyways
    2) If “Fining” is your tem for quality check, so be it. Watching anime with as few mistakes as possible makes for a much more enjoyable expirience.
    3) Thrill thousands and be the first to put out Penguin Museum in avi format. Conversions are done for almost every other show, why not this one?

I am glad to see you keeping Vamp knight and picking up efs2

  30. Koby Says:

    @perimiter
    4.what is EF ?

EF ~ a tale of Melodies

    - look it up at wikipedia or MAL.

  31. ItachiShinigami Says:

What i think about u guys is that your jsut plain awesome and im glad that you guys are speed subbers.

    1. I’ve never seen a “90’s style sub” so idk if you guys should put it or not. But I’d like for you guys to put the clean OP/ED (but if it’s too much trouble and you guys won’t be able to release in time then fck it).

    2. If wastes too much time then no. BTW, sometimes the mistakes you guys do aren’t that bad so it dosent really matter.

    3. Uhmm.. na not really. Just keep doing your work.

    Peice !

  32. fining Says:

plz do fining. nothing more annoying then reading sentences which miss a word or are gramatically shuffled

  33. Scr1be Says:

Welcome Back Kristen ^_^ ….I think you guys all do a great job.
The OP/ED I could honestly couldn’t care less about I usually skip them after the first time.
Fining would be good, but TBH I haven’t seen any huge mistakes. Mostly a few grammatical errors and a couple of missed lines, but no big deal. I could usually guess what the missed line was anyway.
BTW Are You guys still gonna sub Zettai Karen Children? Since You didn’t include it in the list of animes you’re subbing.

Anyways Thank You to everyone in Chihiro ^_^ and Keep up the Good Work

  34. kano Says:

My current staple anime diet is ToLoveRu and Sekirei … Chihiro! :)
A simple QC (fining) - well if you got the time and since a lot seem to not mind an extra 1 hour wait - sounds good to me.
I don’t check here every hour of the day - so another hour to avoid a v2 sounds good.
OP/ED would be nice with just standard on/off mkv subs - I have other releases of ToLoveRu just for the OP sub … and it’s always fun to see the OP/ED translation change over time as someone changes their mind about the meaning …

  35. Arbane Says:

As for me i know many ppl hwo don’t like kara in OP/ED so am i ^^

“Fining” <– i’m goin to say “yes” for it ^^ always better :P

Chihiro don’t change :) u (guys/girls) :P are makin great job and that’s somethin to be proud about so i’m very greatful for u always awaitin realeses :*

My english it’s not to good but just stand it, i’ll try to change :]

  36. Some Random Guy Says:

I guess summer is the time to take surveys and inventory huh? Everyone seems to be doing it.

Anyway, I have been turned on to many anime from just seeing what you guys sub, and see who else subs it and what else they sub etc… So you guys are the bar of which I measure other groups. Let me say what I want to see to get that bar up. I do not expect these but I would love to see it.

    1. OP/ED are nice. I watch them once most of the time unless the song is awesome than I listen to it everytime (World Destruction). I think they are nice to have but I will find another group subbing the anime and watch just their OP/ED.

    2. Speed vs Quality is a fine line to walk. I like both but I can’t have my cake and eat it too. the extra fining is nice but don’t kill yourselves over it. I say put out the MKV and do fining before the AVI encodes. Yes they will be different, but I get my anime and others get their quality on their VLC media player.

    3. I would suggest shows for the fall…but I don’t know where to look so give me a heads up where to look or what is scheduled and I’ll check them out.

So to recap 1) OP/ED are nice but just extras, 2) Speed for MKV, Quality with AVI, and 3) What’s on this fall?

Thanks guys, you are truly awesome.

  37. Ohrly Says:

    Chihiro’s a lifesaver to me.

You guys are speedsubbers, and the thing is sometimes you guys sub a random episode of something you’re not working on, and releases it even faster than the normal subbing groups do.

Don’t bother with the kara, it’s not really worth it I think. I’d rather you guys release faster than give me a minute or so of kara subs.

And lastly, adding fining would be great, I don’t mind the delay of an hour or so, but if it will refrain from any v2’s, then so be it. Quality is something that can’t be neglected, even for speedsub groups.

So there ya have it. Keep up the good work, I’m looking forward to EF. =]

  38. lime Says:

    1. prefer clean opening. saves you time. allows us to enjoy original animation
    2. fining is better then spending so much time releasing a v2. You’re wasting encoder’s time again and also cloggin tokyotosho with your torrents ^^ hehe… also stops people linking “tsukuimi is cute” “kuu-chan is cute too” LOL

  39. ken Says:

    @ Some Random Guy

Anime calendar is availbable at http://anidb.net

    @ Chihiro

    1. I perfer the op/ed to be soft subbed for at least 1 episode. I like to know what the song is. I don’t care for kara though. It’s not back but not good either imo.

    2. I think the fining process is a good idea. I have not been upset with what you put out but I can’t see the fining process hurting you. I agree that the line for speed/quality is a fine one. I don’t mind episodes being a week or two apart but delays longer than that are annoying.

    3. I don’t feel the need to suggest more work for you guys. I like your selections.

I watch Sekirei, WD, and Ikki. Also watching a few of your older works.

    Thx.

  40. Datrin Says:

i like reading and sometimes even singing along with the begginings and endings whitch is posible at Sub groups like ”Ayako” although it takes more time to sub the beginnings and endings i prefer to have them subbed , but furthermore there releases are Great almost always on time whitch is great and ofc great Shows :)

Thanks for all the things you guys have done so far
    Greetings,
    Datrin

  41. Seijeroth Says:

First and Foremost, Thank you guys each and every week for taking the time out of your lives to give us anime fans the fix on our drug, especially you guys who give me…pretty much every project you’re working on every week as fast as you do. Now, as for kara, i could care less for it, i’m the type who likes to make AMV’s on his spare time so having OP/ED’s with no kara benefits me sine i’m able to use clips from OP/ED’s without it being filled with subs. As for fining, again i dont mind either way, i have no trouble watching any epiosdes you guys release so in my opinion, it’s not needed. Lastly, I do have some suggestions on anime you can sub, i would actually greatly appreciate it if you guys managed to as only a good half of these anime’s were subbed and then just “poof” fell off the face of the earth, those would be

Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou Tou Dai Ni Mak - 13/14 eps

Engage Planet Kiss Dum - 26 eps

and this last anime i’ve managed to find all subbed torrents for, however none of the torrents i seem to find ever work…

Seirei no Moribito - 26ish eps

i know that you all have your hands full with your cuurrent projects, even if this is something that you take on after finishing your current work, I and i’m sure many other people who have gotten into these great series but have gotten cut off from them would appreciate it greatly. Again thank you for the great work you guys do and keep up the good job…and in the case that you pick up any of my request, I thank you in advance /bow =)

  42. desperate fan Says:

What are your plans for Zettai Karen Children? Deculture is dead Im assuming and you have pretty awesome subs. thanks for listening

  43. Saku Says:

Imo you guys are doing gr8. I could never ask for anything more! The shows you are subbing and the subs themselves are great!
I hope this just goes to more projects and more experiments :)

    A true fan.
    Saku.

  44. Duality Says:

Actually, I was curious about Zettai as well, since after you released 12, there was indication that you were going to pickup the series since Deculture lost their subber.

    As for;
OP/ED, personally, I never bother to watch them more than once, so I really couldn’t care less if you don’t sub them. Not exactly sure why people are so in favor of it…..

Fining; well, in the long run, it’s probably going to take more time to do that then is it to release a v2 once in a while, but personally, I’m all for it :) As long as you guys don’t mind taking the time, it would make *our* lives easier but since you are the ones putting effort into this so…. :p

  45. gastonf Says:

I don’t think you should bother with the op/ed subs, I will never sing out loud the lyrics and even if I try I’m not able to catch up with the lyrics on my own language (Spanish, that is why this post is so poorly written), but on a more serious side I would say that the op/ed are only needed to be subbed in one or two episodes just to take a look at them and see if the lyrics are interesting. Keep up the good work guys and girls (if there are any, I suppose I read there was one or two, but I’m not sure)
    See ya next post.

  46. Koinzell Says:

OP/ED?…for me, i dont care much. usually skip it. but QC i think is important.

*anyway, any news on Zettai Karen Children?

  47. Kyuta Syuko Says:

    1. OP/ED: Personally I skip through the Op/Ed so it doesn’t really affect me what you do with these, but I do like what several other groups do with them with the Karaoke and all that.

    2. Fining: I’ve noticed rare typos in a few of your subs, but nothing that really distracts from the episode, but I think this would be a good thing to do, who cares if it’s an hour late? I personally prefer something that someone took their time on even if it’s the last one released to something someone just threw together to be the first to release it.

    3. Anything else? It’d be nice if you could find higher quality raws for some of your projects, but I’m sure you’re using the best you can find =|

  48. Tiamat's Disciple Says:

Personally i don’t care about the OP/ED, it’s very rare that i’ll watch them for more than one episode. Though the plain sub for them would be nice.

Fining, even in speed subs is a bonus. If it delays you an hour then take the hour. Better to spend an hour for fining that having to release a load of v2’s, thats a lot of wasted bandwidth :)

For me though, i love the fact that you have both .avi and .mkv. My computer strugles to play h264 since it’s fairly old. I have no intention of upgrading just to watch fansubs (cant afford it!!). I DL both, one for archiving for when i can finally upgrade the PC, and one which i can watch now. So you get a double thumbs up on that score from me :)

  49. Starkiller Says:

    For Seijeroth:

Anime-Kraze has done all 26 epis of Seirei no Moribito

  50. Fall Season Says:

Please sub season 3 of Jigouku Shoujo and Shikabane Hime for the Fall Season. Thank You.

  51. Enosioph Says:

    i agree!
checking episodes b4 release is essential
    take ep6 for an example

  52. Kirill Says:

    Sorry for my English.
    1. OP/ED. I think it is not necessary. And if you will do it, please don’t hardsub it for MKV version because I watch anime with your video+russian ASS-subtitles. Downloading RAWS is very hard for me because of it’s size. I think that full softsubs are your feature.
    2. Fining is definetly necessary. In Russia (except Moscow and St.Petersburg) internet is very expensive and slow. Download v2 is very hard.
    3. Thanks for your job!

  53. kimiwo Says:

    1) It’s okay if you don’t translate the OP and ED. Actually is pretty rare i’ll watch and ending or opening.

    2) Fining will be good, even if it takes an extra hour, as long as you release it, it will be fine.

    3) Just one extra question. Will you continue doing Zettai Karen?

    4) Actually your post are really funny!! Keep up the good work.

  54. Tornado261 Says:

    1. I say don’t bother with the kara. Leave that for quality subs who don’t care about time. Personally, I may watch the kara a few times if i like the song, but I most likely just skip it, thus making it, in my opinion, not worth the effort.

    2. I understand you are a speed sub group, but I don’t think that an extra half hour to hour delay on episodes would cause anyone out there physical pain. “Fining” would be a nice little touch.

    3. Isn’t the second season of Rosario to Vampire due for this fall? I so, I’d suggest that series. This group seems to be relatively impartial to series that have a decent amount of ecchi in them. Rosario definitely fits that requirement.

We really do appreciate the speed. Thanks in advance for yet more awesome releases.

  55. sonarious Says:

1)For tlr - ennyway you could steal the karaoke for the op/end from the group ~(aya…you
know the rest!)~ that did the first 10 eps? Other than that - you all saved me when ‘that group’
slowed, then ~(seemingly - nevah know for sure!)~ to have dropped it.

2)With Penguin Musume Heart - am I missing something or do the eps seemingly drop off the bots within days of release? My compie haetes torrentz - an ep that takes an hour from irc takes
8-10-12 hours from torrentz - soz I’m actually watching your Pengie on veoh. Meh.

‘cuz I didn’t start watching it until actually this 11.5 release.

You all are planning on doing the second season of EF? I ? THAT SHOW! Heh - funny thing is whatever group did liek the first four eps I saw… SUCKED!

It seemingly is NOT an easy anime to sub - soz…(said anime style) DO YOUR BEST! DO YOUR BEST! DO YOUR BEST!

(can you imagine how grand life would be if your own persecom was telling YOU to do your
best? especially is she was a chobits! ^^ )

Fining? Well - I’m fine with whatever you do - onny…I rarely get to watch stuffs the minute it’s released - if an hour delay meant better quality, I’m fine with that.

Um. Last point, before you THRO ME OFF YER BOARDS! I almost think it’s a pavlovian thing, sets me up for the show - I pretty much almost ALWAYS watch ops and ends. And because
I often (tho not always) watch shows that are somewhat obscure/not popular - if teh onny group subbing doesn’t sub the op/ed - I’m sol if they do not.

As for the technical aspects of actual kare vs as you said, 90’s style subbing or something - if I can read the words in english I probably don’t care how you get them on there. Much appreciated by me, if noone else!

  56. Matsu-tan Says:

    1. doing karaoke is fine (if it will be easy for u guys) not doing it is fine too
    2. i guess it’s ok to do the fining thing if it will reduce the volume of v2’s(which is more work.. i guess) but whatever you guys find easier to do is fine by me…
    3. as for anything else… just keep up the speed and i hope chihiro will speed sub many more anime (favorably the ecchi/comedy ones XD) domo arigatou!!

  57. s_quizno Says:

I found out about this group when I was looking for Da Capo II SS. Though not as great as other groups, Chihiro’s releases are of good enough quality, even more so considering that it is a speed release. There are minimal grammatical errors in the subs, and normally, everything goes along well, so I am satisfied with watching Chihiro releases (satisfied = I’m not gonna bother getting it somewhere else). For the improvements:
    1. OP/ED karaoke isn’t necessary at all. I think that it makes it look cluttered. Besides, I only watch the OP/ED (if at all) of the anime’s 1st episode. I know that a lot of people (myself included) just skip the OP/ED anyways either to save time or because they just don’t like it.
    2. A quick QC (or “fining” as you called it) right before releasing is an excellent idea. I don’t mind too much downloading the v2, but a v2 means that you have to work on it. If you can quickly fix the minor mistakes and the overlapping text that show up sometimes, then you wouldn’t need to do a v2 - you can work on something else!

Chihiro is definitely a benefit to me. Focus on the speed sub thing - there are lots of other groups who can handle the “quality” versions. I want my anime fix as soon as possible, and so far, this group has pulled through for me - keep it up!

  58. Dkaseman Says:

Well… I just found this group the other day when I had learned about the new season of Ikki Tousen… I love me some Hakufu xD. Anyway, I have to say I’m not overly impressed with your subbing. It’s just ok, and that’s it.

You could definately benefit from this “fining” you speak of, as I have noticed a few discrepancies in your subs time and time again. That would definately help out.

Just some friendly criticism here, if it weren’t for groups like you I wouldn’t know about half of these anyway. Keep up with the hard work, and hopefully improve as you go along xD

  59. Lippy Says:

i agree that your benefit is the speed subs. I don’t really know the difference between speed and quality, maybe the stylized stuff, or a slightly more literal translation; but either way, i’m happy as long as i know the jist of what’s goin’ on. So far i’ve looked to chihiro for quick subs of several series, and is the only fansub group i have added to my browser hotbar. I don’t care too much about the opening and ending lyrics of songs, usually its better i not know what they’re saying so i can appreciate the sound of it better w/o knowing what sappy lyrics are being sung.
I’m glad you guys post in several formats, mkv’s are a bit screwy with the subtitles on VLC (use a Mac so i cant get the media player classic), though i hear they’re gonna fix that next version.
long story short, keep it up, i’m happy with you guys :)

  60. orfeusz Says:

    heh.

    1. thanks for yours hard work :)
2.quality - i could wait 1 hour more but not 3. if You will increase quality in that time then its fine.
3.karaoke - THIS IS WHAT CHIHIRO LACK MOST. Even simple karaoke would do.
4.thoughts about Chihiro squad? You are great? ;P . I was thinking of joining some sub in my country but never do so because there was always something more important :/

5.for me chihiro is great also because you are not treating fans like sh*t (many other subs do), you answer ours questions, ask about our opinion,…

    6. Sorry for my english :)

  61. shinobijones Says:

i think you guys should continue with zettai karen children! other than that, you guys are doin great!

  62. hyourinnmaru Says:

i think you should when available sub on HD, and should continue Zettai Karen Children please
    since Deculture dropped it

  63. Kaori Says:

WTF……Where is Ikkitousen 09 subbed..? Tomorrow will come ep 10 out….It’s not funny to wait so long….

  64. Arcaheon Says:

I think Chihiro is really making it’s mark atthe moment. The subs you’re producing are of a very high standard. I think the fining process should be included though, as it’s better to spend an hour checking the episode over than to spend a day producing version 2.

As for the Karaoke, I’m a long term (25+ years), anime fan, and I remember when luxuries like karaokes weren’t included on the subs, so for me they’re not essential. I can’t understand why people complain when you leave them off though, as I doubt they’re going to sind the song in english.

Anyway, you’ve made me a fan of your work, and I’m watching all your releases at the moment.

Thanks for the great releases so far :)

  65. ZaXXy Says:

    me i just point stuff out… if you think it’s enough to make a v2 outta the thing i point out then i’ll take a v2… if not well i just have to learn japanese right? as for the kara and extra stuff you do well just do like always and do as you please.. when i’ll pay 10$ an episode then i’ll scream and complain rofl till then it’s your show so to speak ^^;

  66. Hanzo Says:

it’d be pretty cool if u could sub the last couple episodes of crystal blaze since it seems to have been dropped by the groupwho were subbing it recently

  67. MeandI Says:

I dont really think chara is needed. a little delay for QC wouldn’t be to terible but your subs are still usually pretty awsome anyway. thanks for the hard work.

  68. Derrick Says:

I hate to be a bother but I was wondering when Ikki 9 was going to be subbed?

  69. Tigerclaw Says:

Speed > all. I barely notice the flaws because I am so excited to watch my favorite animes. Besides, I would never mess with a good thing.

  70. ginge_ranger Says:

Hello there. This is really the first time I’ve tried to take an active role on the anime scene. I’m more for Tokusatsu programming and as such run my own group.

I would just like to say I love your World Destuction subs. On the issue of opening and ending, karaoke has never really been as issue for me. But I do like to have the romaji and the translation on the screen so I can understand what they are saying AND what they are meaning. It doesn’t take much extra effort but can change your perceptions of a sub.

On fining, for many it won’t be an issue. But as part of my job at my own group is QCing I notice mistakes quite easily. So a small fining job where it won’t delay the release too much would be well appreciated.

As I said, I love your world destruction subs and I hope you keep them up!!!

  71. ISOUL Says:

You guys are doing a fabolous job. Keep up the great work.
Yes it is annoying to see some subs overlap each other. But on your MKV releases even a sub Noob like myself can sync them and re allign them.

Karaoke aka on the OP/ED of anime is good but not essential i think it’s good on your V2 releases but if your striving to become better than yes they’re must. I thoroughly enjoy reading them. Hope to see you guys with singular releases in the future.

  72. boo Says:

All I want is chapters in .mkv. Makes skipping OP and ED so much easier.

  73. Jeff Says:

The only thing I would have to say is more anime. I know it is not possible with you all having lives and all but a show a day would be cool.

  74. RyokoandAyekaLover1 Says:

i think a op/end subs would be good but you dont need to be fancy with it…like Triad when they did Kaiji just basically had the lines without exploding type stuff so its fine and fneing i think would be good also to make sure its done the first time and only be delayed a few hours instead of having to wait days and i think you should allways have a anime to replace one you finished so your not like the Triad in the aspect of them not subbing anything for months cause they just dont feel like it..so not bashing their group just saying atleast 1 project would be nice…

  75. Aldrin Says:

OP/ED.. i think a non-fancy kara would do.. just the text and translation, no need for animation…
fining is fine. another hour won’t make that much especially if your far ahead from the other subbers.

  76. Xenomorph05 Says:

    1. I like clean OP/ED. Maybe you could make kara for it if you want and make it a separate file maybe?
    2. I would not mind waiting an extra hour if it saves me having to download a second file.
    3. Could you sub the second season of Tengen Toppa Gurren Logann that is coming out in a few months?

Thanks!!! Keep up the awesome work!

  77. Negi-kun Says:

I am currently watching Chihiro’s releases of World destruction, Sekirei, ToLoveRu Trouble and Ikkitousen Great Guardians. Previously I’ve watched some Chihiro episodes of Macross Frontier, Vampire Knight and School Rumble san Gakki so I ‘ve seen a lot of Chihiro releases. In general I find the release quality very good with only a rare grammatical error or typo. As much as I look forward to the next episode, the delay for a finning step would not be objectionable.

I enjoy having the OP/ED lyrics so an old school simple text subtitle would be preferable to no sub at all. For those that want a textless OP/ED they can just grab the H.264 release and turn off the soft-sub.

[gg] did something interesting with their V2 release of Macross Frontrier ep 12 you might look at. They used a hex difference program and released an update that converted the original file into the V2 with only 176 KB. This might only work on the HD releases but it’s only 0.048% the size of a full V2 download.

Many thanks and much gratitude for all the great releases!

  78. Tilo Says:

I would appreciate translation on the OP/ED even if it’s just large yellow block letters.

You don’t need to add that “Finning” thing, unless you guys want to, I haven’t had a problem with the quality of your subtitles so far.

Keep up the great work! I really appreciate it.

  79. Pafffka Says:

As the introduction I shall tell thanks for the work done by you!
    1) Would be desirable, that OP/ED were pure so, in my opinion so it will be better
    2) In it I understand a little ((((
    3) Would be desirable, that those series which you have made remained longer are accessible to uploading… Even day two)))
    Thanks for attention!)))

  80. Qc Says:

    1. kara not needed i would normally watch it once and be fine doesn’t really bother me that its not there.
2.Qc or finning is a need even for speed subs people will wait not like some one will beat you to release anyways.
    3. I really didn’t care for you guys at all when you first came in as a sub group but then a strange thing happened no one wanted to sub this seasons anime or sub it at a decent speed it was very strange so i got left with two options wait forever to watch a show in good quality or go down the road of speed subs since im american and i want everything now and fast i came here.I just wanted say thanks for you work you guys made it so i could watch a few more shows this season when no one else would sub them.

  81. bluesfear Says:

Against Kara, or any OP/ED subbing at all.

    For Fining.

    cheers Chihiro!

  82. Cage Says:

I would love you guys forever if you subbed the new Negima OVAs. First one just came out recently and I can’t wait to see it…

  83. qashairy Says:

I would to have a clean OP/ED of any anime you subs. Thanks

  84. Nadi Says:

Karaoke isn’t needed…but it’d be nice to put in the translation of the OP/ED….even just for one ep…it’s just….I’m curious what it’s singing about…

    Otherwise…keep up the great work!

  85. Anonymouse Says:

OP/ED - Translation would at least be nice, if you want to pretend.

QC - Do it. Find someone competent, and they can get it done in an hour and have 80% less mistakes.
